European Initiative of Early Career Researchers for Open Dialogue on New Genomic Techniques and the Policy thereof.
Our current mission is to give a voice to young researchers and students regarding NGTs and their policy within Europe. Moreover, we are aiming to increase public engagement.
The reason for the start-up of this initiative is the amount of gaps between policy, technology and public perception of the techniques in plant breeding. There are many inconsistencies in policy compared to technological advances, and a large part of the public cannot openly discuss genetic editing techniques due to miscommunication, one-way communication and emotional polarization. We aim to make a difference in the latter.
Our core Objectives are:
* To voice the opinions of plant science students and young plant researchers in the policy-making of NGTs
* To engage in open dialogues with the general public about NGTs
* To develop easy to understand and accessible information platforms for all interested
