Georgia Community Doula Coalition

The Georgia Community Doula Coalition is dedicated to improving birth outcomes and advancing culturally sensitive perinatal healthcare across Georgia by ensuring equitable access to community-based doula services. Our vision is a Georgia where every family, regardless of race, cultural background, orientation, socioeconomic status, or geographic location, has access to compassionate, culturally competent, and evidence-based doula support throughout the perinatal period. We envision a future where community doulas are valued and adequately compensated for their essential work, and where collaboration between doulas, healthcare providers, and communities fosters equitable birth outcomes for all. Some key beliefs that GCDC amplifies for Doulas are: - Fair compensation for doula services - Autonomy in training and certification pathways - Freedom to work on their own terms - Recognition of holistic and alternative modalities - Barrier-free access to education and reimbursement options - Inclusion of doula expertise in legislation - Protection from exploitation
