About Global Centre for Modern Ageing
The Global Centre for Modern Ageing was established in March 2018, to take South Australia to the forefront of modern ageing in Australia and the world. The Global Centre for Modern Ageing is creating an ecosystem that empowers the community, businesses, researchers and governments to seek and develop solutions that reflect the opportunities for modern ageing. The Centre exists to: * Facilitate the creation of economic activity and jobs in this new modern ageing market; * Shift the mindset about ageing; * Enable opportunities for increased productivity, contribution, wealth and engagement among older people; * Equip businesses and older people with evidence to inform decision making; and * Seek out and partner with the world's best modern ageing ecosystems. The Global Centre for Modern Ageing operates LifeLab, a leading real-time test facility which allows businesses to trial products and services in a simulated 'real-life' environment. Through advocacy, market development, partnerships, research and learning, the Centre helps organisations and individuals to devise, build and commercialise products and services that allow older people to live and age well. | What is modern ageing? | From the moment we're born, we're ageing. But the traditional concept of ageing isn't just about getting older, it's about being old. It's about becoming less important, less competent, less useful and less current. It hinders reputations and limits capabilities. Modern ageing changes that notion and sparks an inclusive future that engages people throughout the whole of life's course to participate and belong, in ways they value. Modern ageing changes 'burden' to 'opportunity' and ultimately reinvigorates the ageing population to live longer, healthier and happier lives, while bringing benefit to communities and economies globally.
