GlobalChild

We are a group of child development and child rights researchers, advocates, and experts from Canada and across the globe working under the guidance of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child to facilitate the fulfillment of children's rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). We have created a comprehensive, multilingual, electronic monitoring tool called GlobalChild that can: (1) Provide evidence and data to inform the decisions of politicians, policymakers, and researchers on issues related to children's rights, health, and development; (2) Ensure government accountability to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC); and (3) Track the progress made in existing policies and programs that support child rights, and as a result, child health and development. For over a decade, we have had the support of the chairpersons of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child to create and pilot child rights indicators tools for 1) young children below the age of 8 (Indicators of General Comment 7, also known as the Early Childhood Rights Indicators, ECRI); and 2) all children under 18 (the GlobalChild platform).
