GML is a major economic player in the Indian Ocean: leader of the "Top 100" Mauritian companies and in the premier groups of the Indian Ocean. It is a Mauritian group, originating from two family holdings: Mon Loisir Compagnie Ltée-MLCL – and Compagnie d'Investissement et de Développement Limitée -CIDL- which changed into GML Ineo Ltée and GML Investissement Ltée following the rebranding. GML is active in key sectors of the Mauritian economy. It represents in 2013 a portfolio of approximately 300 subsidiaries and associated companies. Some of the flagship companies of the country include IBL, Phoenix Beverages, UBP, LUX* Resorts, AfrAsia Bank, Alteo, Alentaris, and many more. 13,000 employees. A group responsible and conscious to follow the values and standards of sustainability. It has also established in 2005 the GML Fondation Joseph Lagesse, adopted a Sustainability Policy and created its Environment Program GML 'Think Green'.
