Gozour Foundation for Development (GFD) is an Egyptian non-profit organization registered under the Ministry of Social Solidarity, No. 7885/2010. The Foundation was established to become a catalytic agent in tackling the underlying causes of underdevelopment and to address major socio-economic challenges. The Foundation believes that simply addressing the symptoms without tackling the root causes creates more challenges in the long run. GFD works at the community level with vulnerable and marginalized groups. Its long-term objective is to improve the living conditions of individuals emanating from dire situations sustainably by ensuring that they become self-sufficient actors in their communities.
GFD is dedicated to promoting positive change in individuals and communities through a tailored approach based on three interconnected pillars: inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation. Inclusivity is central to GFD strategy, which involves adopting participatory approaches to define context-specific development priorities, increase accessibility, and reduce inequalities. This approach is meant to create value and strengthen the local capacity for sustainable development by capitalizing on local knowledge and experience in designing and implementing project interventions. Inclusivity is imperative for the sustainability of results over time and offers higher returns for donor resources while getting people to claim a greater say in running their affairs. Sustainability is also a key focus, with GFD equipping stakeholders with the skills and knowledge necessary for self-directed, self-sustaining change. Furthermore, for GFD, innovation and flexibility play a key role in designing innovative solutions to address the ever-changing developmental challenges.
