With a degree in neuroscience, designer Althea Simons founded Grammar from the perspective of a discipline that methodically seeks the truth, that does not discriminate. This translates to her inclusive approach to design, creating proportions with underlying ease and practicality that are fitting to women of all forms. Further to the functional and aesthetic considerations, the line is rooted in the belief that the integrity of a design is equally defined by its ecological impact. Grammar shirts are made in New York City using shell buttons and 100% organic cotton, both recyclable and biodegradable. To ensure that the cotton is of the highest quality, Grammar requires GOTS certification for its compliance with the strictest standards of sustainability and labor rights from seed to finished fabric. In creating elegant garments that stand up to the highest standards of design and sustainability, Grammar’s approach is driven by the respect for taking on challenges that are difficult but worthy. The brand launched in November 2018 with a collection of 8 tailored white shirts – committing itself to offering a wardrobe that is easy and intelligent, while challenging our perceptions of thoughtful and responsible style.
