Green Forest Ink is an initiative designed to encourage the use of eco friendly newspaper pens with an aim to replace the currently existing plastic body pens.
In India, 1600 to 2400 million plastic pens are brought into the market every year and only 9% of this plastic waste is at maximum recycled. Recognising this, Sadhika Anand and Samaara Arora started Green Forest Ink: an initiative that promotes the usage of 100% sustainable pens and aims at reducing the plastic waste generated by our community. These newspaper pens are made by the rural women of India and making these pens provides them with a livelihood while empowering them at the same time. Till date, over 2000 pens have been sold.
Along with the promotion of the pens, we organize the collection of old and used plastic pens which are sent for recycling. These drives have been conducted in 14 societies so far and we aim to expand them. We have recycled 35 kg of plastic so far inclusive of 2000 pens.
