Harmony Project

Harmony: It is a voluntary development project that works to build peace through art and culture, and seeks to empower and support the youth by providing supportive and safe artistic and cultural spaces that receive all their ideas, hobbies and aspirations in order to work on and develop them for the advancement of society in general and the individual in particular. Harmony believes that the human being is the highest value in life, and is the cornerstone in the development of society, and that the youth has a great role in restoring life and advancing societies in the post-conflict phase. That is why Harmony carries a set of basic values when implementing its activities in order to instill them in society. The Harmony project started in 2018 with a group of young people who believed in their abilities and capabilities, so they consider it their responsibility to find a place that has a history in Homs. They chose an old oriental house that has been built in 1906, but it was badly damaged by the conflict. Work began on restoring the house by the hands of the young volunteers to replace the dust of the conflict with the colors of life. Harmony was opened on May 12, 2019 with five sections: painting, sculpting, photography, library and cinema, in addition to peace-building and community cohesion workshops. Our vision: A cohesive human society which believes in all its components and the importance of each individual in the process of building himself and the other, and it is based on active and capable youth. Our values: Humanity, simplicity, partnership, diversity acceptance, uniqueness.
