About Hart House UofT

Established in 1919, Hart House is a hub for experiential learning at the University of Toronto. It has long been a cultural fabric of the University where students and community come together to share ideas, create culture and find fellowship and a sense of belonging. Today, it serves as a dynamic and inclusive space where students from all three U of T campuses and the community connect through arts, dialogue and wellness. Offering a wide range of programs and services, Hart House offers something for everyone. Hart House provides numerous opportunities for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to engage and connect. Our 9 standing committees enable students to develop and practice leadership skills while working together on common causes. Students can pursue their passions and gain valuable skills and experiences that benefit their studies, careers and personal lives. Here is the list of the 9 Hart House standing committees: • Student Art Committee • Student Debates and Dialogue Committee • Student Farm Committee • Finance Committee • Student Literary and Library Committee • Student Music Committee • Recreational Athletics and Wellness Committee • Student Social Justice Committee • Student Theatre Committee The Hart House registered clubs program and musical groups foster community by bringing people together to explore mutual interests and try new activities. The 200,000-square-foot facility on St George campus, featuring stunning neo-Gothic architecture, offers a range of rooms for study, recreation and socializing, along with a modern athletics and aquatics centre. The House also provides rental spaces for weddings, meetings and special events. In the building, there is also the Justina M. Barnicke Art Gallery, the Hart House Theatre and two exceptional dining options: Gallery Grill and The Arbor Room. As well, Hart House oversees a 150-acre satellite farm location in Caledon, Ontario.
