Headucate’s mission is simple. We aim to tackle mental health stigma and help end discrimination.
We primarily do this by running free workshops in schools with children and adolescents into order to tackle common misconceptions about mental health issues. We also engage with university students and the public to increase general mental health awareness.
Headucate UK is a national charity that represents and supports a network of Headucate branches and affiliated mental health societies across the UK. All of our Headucate branches and affiliates are led by university students who undertake a variety of activities. In terms of mental health workshops for schools, we currently have Headucate teams based at universities in Norwich, London, Birmingham and Cambridge who are able to deliver these.
Currently, there is next to no mental health teaching in schools, yet it is thought that about 50% of lifelong mental illnesses are already established by age 14. Most children do not seek the help they need when they need it, nor know that help is possible. If your school would like to benefit from our free workshop programme, please feel free to get in touch.
So far, we have reached tens of thousands of young people. Help us reach more by spreading the word.
