Regular, consistent data collection is critical to understanding patient condition and good patient management. This is why Medicare will only pay for monitoring of patients where observations are made on at least 16 days out of 30. Unfortunately, this means that doctors and remote patient monitoring (RPM) companies are incentivised to only monitor adherent patients, who are the least likely to benefit from ongoing monitoring - because adherent patients are the most likely to proactively engage with healthcare.

The key problem to address is that non-adherence is strongly associated with hospitalisation risk, and that very few options are available to monitor non-adherent patients.
