Heroic Gardens

Heroic Gardens is a non-profit mental health organization that empowers veterans and caregivers throughout the Delaware Valley region to utilize gardening and plant-based therapies as an alternative healing outlet. Founded in 2018, Heroic Gardens combines compassionate support with evidence-based programs to help veterans and their caregivers’ overcome conditions related to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Heroic Gardens offers veteran and caregivers free programming that will help them experience physical, mental, social and behavioral rehabilitation through the use of plants and nature. We partner with established veteran support organizations to bring gardening and mental health services to veterans and caregivers within their networks. We also work directly with Veterans in their homes in the greater Philadelphia area and nationwide through online workshops and community programming. Currently, we serve Philadelphia and the surrounding counties, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware and Berks, + Southeastern New Jersey and Delaware. In 2022, Heroic Gardens was 1 of 5 recipients from across the United States to receive a commendation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for outstanding programming. In 2023, Heroic Gardens served over 700 Veterans and over 100 Caregivers. In just one year, our Social programming jumped from 37 classes to 85 and we now offer a national virtual program that has 25 Veterans enrolled across the US.
