Heti Betevő was founded in 2013 in response to a growing need for assistance, and to this day, it operates solely through private donations. Initially, the association provided one hot meal per week to those in need.
Today, Heti Betevő serves restaurant-quality hot meals, along with cookies and fruit, to hundreds of homeless individuals, families living in extreme poverty, pensioners, and children at two locations in Budapest and several others across the country. The food is prepared by partner restaurants, while the plastic spoons, napkins, and cups needed for serving are provided by the organization, funded entirely by donations from individuals and companies.
The organization’s approximately forty volunteers work pro bono every week to ensure that people experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty receive at least one high-quality meal. As the number of those in need continues to grow, their commitment remains unwavering.
