The HOME Project is a non-profit organization which provides shelter and support for refugees.
The HOME Project is a non-profit organization set up to address the needs of refugee and child migrants, who arrive in Greece alone. We move children from the streets, camps, police stations, detention centers and bring them to the safety of our HOMES, where they receive support, protection and social integration services. We are operating 11 HOMES with a capacity of 220 children receiving a holistic network of services covering food, shelter, and material, medical, psycho-social, and legal support. All the children we serve obtain immediate access to education and training. Overall, in its first 20 months, The HOME Project has been able to support more than 300 children and created over 130 jobs.
At the heart of this refugee crisis which is the largest humanitarian disaster since the Second World War, is the little-told story of the children, refugees who have been ripped from their homelands through violence and war, and who seek the basic security which most of us take for granted. More than 3,400 of the refugees currently in Greece are unaccompanied minors. Of those, more than 2,400 are homeless and living on the streets, in camps, detention centers; all at risk of violence, sexual abuse, exploitation and organ trafficking. The living conditions are horrific and inhumane. Through no fault of their own, these children are the innocent victims of this crisis. They flee from violence only to find it again at a European border.

Many of the refugees in our shelters are vulnerable young people. We respect their privacy and avoid reproducing photographs that would make them identifiable.
