HorseSensing

HorseSensing teaches humans how to interact intuitively with horses, care for horses and better care for themselves and those around them. HorseSensing teaches professional horse caretaking skills in a therapeutic environment, provides equine assisted therapy and promotes both human and equine well-being. At HorseSensing we have been conducting day long equine therapy and equine assisted learning activities with veterans and military service persons suffering from post-traumatic stress and other issues, veterans permanently in wheelchairs, boys and girls in juvenile detention, at-risk youth, formerly incarcerated adults, drug addicts in treatment, severely mentally ill adults, blind adults, and many others since we opened in 2010 in California. We have also been conducting individual equine therapy sessions with adults and juveniles as young as 12. In Kentucky, we are continuing programs like these but in addition we are adding a new focus. HS Groom Elite. A relapse prevention/horse caretaker education program. Kentucky is severely lacking in men and women to fill the jobs required to run the professional stables throughout the state and beyond. Shelby County is lacking alcohol and drug recovery support programs as well. The professional Horse Industries have a shortage of qualified employees. This issue has become so serious that some trainers in the racing and showing horse worlds have had to reduce their horse numbers. Shelbyville, Kentucky is known as the Saddlebred Capital of the World. HorseSensing is based in Shelbyville. HorseSensing is fortunate enough to have lifelong horsemen from the racing and showing industries that will teach men and women the skills to have a career in the horse industry. Many, if not most, of these jobs come with housing on the property.We help veterans and others create a new and productive direction for their lives while providing for their family and having secure housing.
