WHAT IS HOURVILLAGE? Hourvillage is a social marketplace for sharing of skills, services and errands that runs on time, not money. We believe every villager has skills to share. Young and old, male and female, students and retirees, professionals and homemakers – each person has something to offer. Hourvillage makes this time exchange possible through a mobile application. HOW DOES HOURVILLAGE WORK? Hourvillagers give or get skills and services in exchange for hour credits. An hour is an hour – 1 hour of any service provided on Hourvillage equals 1 hour credit. Villagers can get more hour credits on Hourvillage by giving their skills. No money is exchanged on Hourvillage. A teenager can help an elderly person learn how to use a smart phone. A banking professional can share his career experience with a group of students. A single mom can have a neighbour pick up groceries for her. A young woman can learn a language by practicing with a fellow villager online. A corporate volunteer can easily track his time spent with different charities and share this data seamlessly with his employer. The possibilities for time exchange are endless. Each hour earned by a Hourvillager is securely recorded and builds a villager’s time resume. This resume is validated by ratings from other villagers. The hour credits earned can be spent on services needed or donated to others. WHO SHOULD USE HOURVILLAGE? Hourvillage is for individuals, organizations and communities. Targeted modules will be available for companies with CSR and employee volunteering programs, charities that need volunteers, universities and other community builders.
