Hussey & Co is a business dedicated to producing Australia’s finest, gourmet baby leaf salad mixes and we are renowned for our superior quality in Australia and overseas.
Our aim is to constantly develop new and exciting products that are the best in the industry and to remain innovators in horticulture. We are a national business with our head office situated on the Mornington Peninsula just outside of Melbourne. We have our own farms in East Gippsland Victoria, as well as an operation in South East Queensland. This geographic spread mitigates risk and gives our business strength to ensure continuity of supply.
Hussey & Co continually strives for the pursuit of excellence and award-winning innovation. In 2005 we developed our very own, industry leading triple-washing system, still used today. In 2014 Hussey & Co invested in optical sorting technology, to significantly reduce the risk of foreign objects, putting us at the forefront as a fully integrated grower, processor of ready to eat baby leaf salads.
In 2015 Hussey & Co installed the largest air-drying tunnel in the world. Air drying technology has now become the new industry standard for baby leaf salad production to ensure the precise moisture content left on the leaves was in our control. Continual investment in the use of technology ensures we consistently provide cold, clean and dry baby leaf all year round.
We are currently leading the way as a sustainability innovator with the development of the largest solar farm on the Mornington Peninsula. This undertaking generates the power required for the operations at this site. Additionally, in 2018 the processing facility invested in reverse osmosis (RO)
technology to generate potable processing and drinking water on-site, helping to reduce costs and improve quality.
