IEA de Paris (Paris Institute for Advanced Study)

The Paris Institute for Advanced Study is an independent international research center in the humanities, social sciences and cognitive (neuro)science, and a partner of the major higher education establishments in the Paris area. It develops high-level research whose innovative character contributes to the understanding of the world and its transformations. The Paris IAS promotes interdisciplinary research and experimentation with new forms of intersectoral collaboration. It is supported by the Ministry of Research, Higher Education and Innovation through the RFIEA+ (French Network of Institutes for Advanced Study) Laboratory of Excellence, and by the European Commission through the FIAS (French Institutes for Advanced Study) program. The Paris IAS is also a member of the European Network of Institutes for Advanced Study (NetIAS) that promotes dialogue and cooperation between European IAS. As a home for scientific life, the Paris IAS welcomes international researchers from a variety of disciplines, facilitates their exchanges and supports their interactions with the Parisian scientific community and the extra-academic world. Freed from the day-to-day obligations of university life, these researchers carry out, individually or in groups, the scientific project of their choice, in a setting that encourages the development of new perspectives. In its annual selection, the IAS encourages research projects that address major world problems. The Institute develops interactions with local and global research ecosystems, civil society and the socio-economic world in order to increase the impact of scientific work in the human, social and cognitive sciences, beyond disciplinary and sectoral boundaries. Dialogue between academics, citizens, and political decision-makers facilitates reflection on present and future societal challenges.
