EL INSTITUTO EUROPEO PARA EL CONOCIMIENTO DEL HOLOCAUSTO Y LOS TOTALITARISMO (IECHT) constitutido el 20 de agosto de 2020 al amparo de la Ley Orgánica 1/2002, de 22 de marzo, con personalidad jurídica y plena capacidad de obrar careciendo de ánimo de lucro en el desarrollo de sus actividades, tiene como objetivo fundamental el desarrollo de acciones, de toda índole educativa, cultural y social, encaminadas a alertar y denunciar el desarrollo de toda forma totalitaria en la sociedad actual y futura, así como difundir el conocimiento histórico que su implantación ha producido.
