Welcome to the iGEM Pisa Team (aka PernoNoMore)!
We are a dedicated team of university students from the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and the University of Pisa, united in our mission to revolutionize the wine industry and protect vineyards worldwide from the devastating effects of Plasmopara viticola, also known as Peronospora.
Italy's rich wine heritage faces a significant threat from this pathogen, as seen in vineyards across Campania and beyond. Traditional methods using copper-based fungicides are proving inadequate and harmful to the environment, necessitating a modern, sustainable solution.
Our diverse team brings expertise in biotechnology, computer sciences, engineering, and economics to the table, ensuring a holistic approach to innovation. Our primary objective is to develop an environmentally friendly biosensor for Peronospora, paving the way for targeted and sustainable agricultural practices.
