MUTANS UniPD Team

MUTANS was born from a shared determination to channel our passion for life sciences into something meaningful beyond the limits of our degree programs. It all began with the curiosity and initiative of one student, who discovered the iGEM international competition and envisioned forming a team to represent the University of Padova 🌍 With this dream in mind, in 2021, students from Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, and Biology came together to create what would become MUTANS 🧬 Multidisciplinary UniPD Team Applied for Natural Sciences⚛ MUTANS has achieved remarkable success in the iGEM competition over the past two years. In 2023, we were awarded the prestigious Gold Medal 🥇 for our innovative contributions to synthetic biology and received a Top 5 Best Therapeutic Project nomination, recognizing the therapeutic potential of our work. Building on this success, in 2024, we earned the Silver Medal 🥈 for our continued excellence, alongside the Best Entrepreneurship Award 🏆 for transforming our project into a viable business concept. We were also nominated for Best Bioremediation Project, highlighting our commitment to address environmental challenges. What began as a small, passionate group has grown into a thriving team that continues to achieve greater success with each passing year 🔥 Every year, we bring together new students from various scientific fields. This year as an additional support to the team, we have students studying Chemistry and Computer Engineering.
