ILGA_NAC

ILGA-North America and the Caribbean (ILGA-NAC) evolved from ILGA-North America (ILGA-NA), established in 2016. Initially focused on North America, it became increasingly apparent that the unique cultural, contextual, and linguistic needs of the Caribbean were not being fully addressed under the broader umbrella of Latin America and the Caribbean (ILGA-LAC). Responding to this gap, ILGA-NA undertook a strategic re-evaluation to enhance its focus and effectiveness in these regions. The 2021 rebranding to ILGA-NAC represented more than a name change; it signified a shift in operational focus and strategic planning. The aim was to create a more tailored advocacy and support framework that respects and addresses the specific challenges faced by 2SLGBTQI+ communities in both North America and the Caribbean. This transition strengthens ILGA-NAC's capacity to champion the rights and well-being of 2SLGBTQI+ individuals across a broader and more diverse geographic area, ensuring inclusive and effective advocacy efforts.
