In South Africa, 1.3 million children aged 3 to 5 lack access to early learning, with the highest disparities in under-resourced communities. Unlike other education sectors, ECD services are run by small, owner-operated businesses relying on parental fees, making them financially vulnerable. At IMBE, we support women-led ECD microenterprises with innovative business solutions to enhance financial resilience. While passionate about childcare, many lack business skills and financial access to sustain their centres. Our programmes equip them with tools to grow their income, expanding access to quality early learning. By supporting IMBE, funders contribute to a sustainable solution that empowers entrepreneurs, strengthens businesses, and increases ECD access—especially for disadvantaged children.
