WHAT WE BELIEVE IDEA The words “Diversity and Inclusion” is often thrown around like a fad, like the next new shiny thing for businesses. Because of this, often diversity is associated with a very narrow definition of gender or cultural diversity and often leaves out what it means to have inclusion. However, equity and accessibility must be part of D&I and must transition into IDEA: Inclusion = Diversity + Equity + Accessibility. CULTURE A company’s culture is the heart and soul of the organization. Without a thoughtful and purposeful strategy to feed a culture that includes diversity, equity, and inclusion, it will take on a life of its own without your intent or approval. DESIGN THINKING Design thinking is often synonymous with human-centered design and this is why we use this approach at Inclusion Equals. Brand and culture are both very much centered on the human condition. To create a brand and culture centered on the human condition must focus on inclusion at the top of its strategy. The evolution of diversity has moved to diversity and inclusion (D&I), and now to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We, at Inclusion Equals, believe that accessibility is also a key foundation for inclusion. We believe Inclusion = Diversity + Equity + Accessibility (IDEA).
