Founded in 2009, the Indian Type Foundry (ITF) designs and distributes high-quality, multilingual fonts for both the Indian and global markets. ITF specializes in creating and developing custom and retail fonts. Its retail library offers fonts for both text and display use, with visual styles ranging from traditional to experimental. ITF currently offers over 300 retail font families across 20 writing systems, making it one of the largest independent type foundries in the world.
ITF's flagship Kohinoor Font Family has been included in the permanent "Designer Maker User" exhibition at London's Design Museum since 2016, which showcases over 1,000 iconic designs from various disciplines of the 20th and 21st centuries. ITF's fonts have also received numerous accolades, including iF Design Awards for custom fonts created for Samsung in 2017 and Standard Chartered in 2022.
ITF is also responsible for creating some of the world's most recognized and widely used free fonts, including Poppins, which is featured on millions of websites globally, as well as Satoshi, Clash Display, Hind, General Sans, and Khand. ITF's premium fonts are currently used by some of the world's most iconic brands, including Apple, Google, Samsung, Pfizer, Sony, Hyundai, Siemens, Standard Chartered, Pernod Ricard, Dupont, Philip Morris, and Publicis Groupe, along with various brands from Indian giants including Tata Group, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance, and Star India.
