The International GEOTRACES Programme is a marine geochemical project involving scientists from more than 35 countries. Its scientific mission is to establish the distribution of key chemical elements in the world's oceans, elements that are essential to life (essential micronutrients for microorganisms), toxins, or as tracers of oceanographic processes (helping to improve climate models).
