Internships Work Programme

Launched in September 2022 and funded by the Department for Education, Internships Work is a programme which aims to build capacity and improve quality and consistency of supported internship provision in England. It is designed to support more young people with additional needs to have greater choice and control over their future, opening up opportunities that prepare them for adult life and independent living. In the first three years, delivered by NDTi, BASE and DFN Project Search, the programme more than doubled the number of supported internships in England. 4,635 young people have benefited from a supported internship and 1,562 secured paid employment last year as a result.
