intombi means “girl” in the South African language Xhosa. On November 29, 2009 intombi e. V. was founded in Hürth. The CEO, Alexandra Potratz, who had the idea for intomi's foundation, worked as a volunteer in a home for girls in South Africa and in a girls’ group in Germany. Working with girls in different countries, she became aware that girls often have a great potential to make a difference – for themselves and others.
