Established in 1985 as a provider of contract design services for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and specialising in electronic control solutions, Inventis Technology (then called PNE Electronics) quickly became known within the Australian electronics industry as an innovator. The invention of the safety cut-out switch for the domestic steam iron (a safety device developed in partnership with Sunbeam and subsequently Black&Decker, and now endemic in household appliances around the world) and subsequent supply of electronics for a series of industry firsts, such as the first Australian made electric lawnmower (noting that the invention of the lawnmower is credited to an Australian) and the world’s first solar pool heating system, helped secure major clients, including Mistral, Kambrook and Climate Technologies (makers of Vulcan Bonnaire, Pyrox and other iconic Australian whitegoods and consumer durables).
