Iran’s Vice Presidency for Science and Technology

The office of the Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy serves as the key authority in charge of science and technology in Iran. The office was established in the Persian year of 1385 (2006-2007) and has been working ever since to support scientific and technological innovations, develop knowledge-based companies, and enhance homegrown technologies, using the scientific possibilities of universities and research institutes. The Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy has been focused from the beginning on commercializing scientific ideas, expanding technological parks, and strengthening Iran's innovation and startup ecosystem. With the growth of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and biotechnology, the office has recently been recognized as the main hub for the development of these fields and has beefed up its support for research on emerging technologies and creating the necessary infrastructure for technological entrepreneurship. The main authority in charge of science and technology in Iran has boosted its role in supporting the elite and innovative community continuously and with a firm resolve as it has been moving toward developing sustainable human capacity and social welfare and toward strengthening a knowledge-based economy throughout all these years.
