Isiolo CEED

Community Empowerment and Environmental Development (CEED) is a local NGO working in Isiolo and Meru counties whose mission is to sustain high-value interventions through community-based social enterprises. CEED was registered in June 2013 as a CBO, and since then it has been involved in the implementation of RPS (Resilience, Peace, and Stability), funded by ACT! through Denmark in Kenya, ECCES (Kenya Electoral Conflict Mitigation and Civic Education Support), Funded by USAID Kenya and ACT, and the Accelerated Response Initiative Against Violence and Extremism (ARIVE). Funded by the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) and ACT Some of the achievements include • amplifying women's voices in the mediation process through the establishment of the Isiolo Community Policing Leaders Network • supporting Amani Club and the establishment of a peace corner in Isiolo Barracks Secondary School, Uhuru Secondary, and St. Paul's Mixed Secondary to fight Radicalization among learners in schools. • establishment of a community policing shed in Kambi Ya Juu, • training 40 youth on various employable skills such as mobile phone repair, Sugarcane juice, and giving a Business Start-Up Support Kit to set up small businesses with knowledge and skills to become P/CVE Champions. • training Meru youngsters’ groups on modern pig farming with the aim of improving livelihoods of youths and economically empowering them not to engage in crime and other conflict • To lower the number of vulnerable youths in the community, CEED has established a skill innovation center designed to give as many youths as possible a platform to engage in meaningful income earning
