JASTECA

JASTECA was founded in 1984 and comprises returned scholarship alumni of HIDA /AOTS (The Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association of Japan www.hidajapan.or.jp). JASTECA’s current role includes camaraderie among alumni members, transference of Japanese technology and Japanese management know-how to Sri Lanka, imparting Japanese language skills to Sri Lankan communities, promotion of Japanese culture in Sri Lanka and encouraging trade and commercial initiatives between Sri Lanka and Japan. JASTECA through HIDA Japan, pioneered the introduction and implementation of 5S, Kaizen and Lean Management concepts in Sri Lanka. JASTECA with the financial support extended by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan in association with HIDA Japan has trained over 3750 Sri Lankans in Japan through varied management scholarships as well as by tailor-made training programmes fully funded by the Sri Lankan private sector corporates. JASTECA annual awards competition is a flagship programme of JASTECA Sri Lanka that identifies best performers in the country who excel in the practice of 5S, Kaizen and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Further in terms of cultural & management aspects, the Japanese Language Education Association and JASTECA Institute of Management that function under the umbrella of JASTECA continue to serve the Sri Lankan Society as two best performing training organizations in the country in Japanese Language education and Japanese Management concepts respectively. JASTECA has over 1500 life members and 62 corporate members. JASTECA is considered to be one of the most active and best performing alumni associations of the AOTS/HIDA Global Network.
