I am a mixed animal veterinarian and world adventurer turned neurobiology nerd. In 2019 I sustained a life changing back injury and adverse drug reaction from Pregabalin, resulting in several years of debilitating pain and hormonal disruption - I lost my career and identity and struggled to get back to the version of myself that I was before.
However, during my healing journey, I discovered that this injury was actually a gift that made me wake up to major brain issues that had been brewing for decades, originating from early childhood trauma, that needed to be resolved before my body could heal. I quickly found that Western medicine is has poor understanding and knowledge of psychosomatic healing, apart from polypharmacy of heavy painkillers, that were not effective for me, so set out on a journey of discovery of holistic mind and body healing. Along the way I met thousands of females that had suffered similar conditions but didn't have the underlying medical knowledge that I had gained from my veterinary education, to question or challenge modern medicine status quo, resulting in years of suffering, inability to work and destruction of relationships, family and finances.
Hence my mission is to talk about, write and teach these ongoing learnings to females and medical professionals around the world, to improve treatment of patients with 'complicated complex' pain related conditions. Its not all about the drugs!
