Committee to Re-Elect Mayor Joe Petty

Joe was born in Worcester to Francis and Bernadine Petty and grew up in the Hadwen Square neighborhood. He attended Heard Street Elementary School, Worcester East Middle, and Holy Name Central Catholic High School. He went on to receive a bachelor’s in business administration from Nichols College and a law degree from New England School of Law. He served as a councilor at-large on the Worcester City Council for 14 years beginning in 1997, after winning his first election to office. After serving six two-year terms on the council, he mounted a campaign for mayor in 2011 and was inaugurated as the City’s 59th mayor in January of 2012. His agenda, both as councilor and now as mayor, has been consistently focused on education, jobs, public safety, and neighborhoods. He is happily married to his wife Gayle and is the proud father of three children.
