I use data, business analytics, and visualizations to provide people and companies with a better understanding of their business. And for those that do not need to analyze their own business, I publish unique analytics articles about the largest publicly traded companies that give insight into who owns those companies and how they operate and make money. These insights go beyond standard analytics & reports that are typically available elsewhere. My view is that Data Analysis & Business Analytics should be primarily about the BUSINESS itself. While technical data analytics skills are essential for successful Business Analytics, they are merely tools and a means to an end. Knowledge of the underlying business and its context is critical to doing analytics well.
