Karun Kumbera Architects & Urbanists (KKAU) was established in 2008 in Bangalore, to cater to the holistic aspects of human living. With a collaborative design process between India and Europe, the 26 -year-old practice strives to find an equilibrium between the physical milieu generated by human needs and the environment. At KKAU, design principles and appropriate methodologies are established in discussions with the client. The human-centric approach is contextualized in geographic, climatological, economic, cultural, ecological, legal, and other pertinent factors. As a result of the passive design approach and the materials used, customizable building systems are employed. This approach helps reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and helps enhance the quality of human living at large.
