About KOCIA (Korean Council for International Arbitration)
Korean Council for International Arbitration (KOCIA) was established in 2006 to create a welcoming community for practitioners and students with an interest and passion for international arbitration and serves as an engaging forum for exchanging ideas. We promote the use of arbitration in Korea, which is a fast growing, inclusive and dynamic hub for arbitration lawyers. On the ground, KOCIA advised in the adoption of the KCAB International Rules, the amendments to the Korean Arbitration Act and the Korean Arbitration Industry Promotion Act. We also assisted in the establishment of the Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center and continue working with them. We regularly conduct training programs and organise seminars, socials, workshops, careers and networking events and conferences. We also focus on research and presentations on international arbitration and frequently publish literature on these topics. KOCIA welcomes any future members with an interest in arbitration. It is an exciting time for arbitration practitioners in Asia, and particularly Korea at the moment. Our desire is to collaborate with the wider arbitration community and would be happy to hear any thoughts or questions.
