We operate two national user facilities, the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) and Energy Sciences Network (ESnet), and conduct applied research and development in computer science, computational science, and applied mathematics, with a focus on emerging areas such as machine learning, deep learning, exascale computing, and quantum computing.
By combining computer and network operations with research and development, we provide tangible benefits to scientists and their research programs, enabling them to accelerate discovery and innovation in fields such as materials science, genomics, and quantum information science.
