The Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC) is the national energy agency of Lebanon. LCEC addresses end-use energy conservation and renewable energy at the national level. An independent organization hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Water, LCEC supports the Government of Lebanon to develop and implement national strategies that promote the development of efficient and rational uses of energy and the use of renewable energy at the consumer level. LCEC is a financially and administratively independent. LCEC was created in 2002 as a project financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Ministry of Energy Water (MEW) under the management of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with a main mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Lebanon. LCEC gradually established itself as a center of excellence in the field of sustainable energy.
