In most agencies, much can be done to improve leadership development. There is a world of leadership studies that is just not making it to our people. We must not limit ourselves to just the law enforcement experience either. There is much to learn from the private sector, the military, competitive sports, etc. Leadership is the most challenging, exciting, and rewarding experience one could ever experience, especially in law enforcement. But it also can be very difficult. Leadership is people, and people can be complex.
In this full-day program, we intend to lay out what is expected from a modern-day law enforcement leader, everything from the importance of followership and commitment to the organization to taking ownership of what has been entrusted to you. Ultimately, we want our leaders to be developing new leaders.
