About Lets-Care project

The LeTs-Care project (Learning from long-Term Care practices for the European care strategy) is a comparative research project funded under the “Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society” area of Horizon Europe. Launched on April 1, 2024, its objective is to identify and study effective and replicable solutions in the field of long-term care. Advancing long-term care (LTC) policies and practices toward greater equity, inclusive growth, resilience, and societal well-being requires a comprehensive understanding of the challenges we face. Building a meaningful "EU Care Strategy" necessitates the development of integrated care models that can scale effectively, leveraging innovative business models and emerging technologies. A successful strategy begins with a nuanced consideration of each country’s specific contexts, needs, and existing solutions, alongside an understanding of how unique challenges are managed locally. Rather than directly replicating models from other nations, this approach aims to explore the array of available choices, navigate inherent tensions, and tailor solutions that align with the distinct needs of individual contexts. A critical component of this process is an empirical investigation into the drivers of inequalities within LTC systems. By analysing exemplary care models and examining the potential of new practices, we can identify pathways that enhance social protection, support inclusive growth, and foster long-term sustainability. Facilitating collaborative, context-sensitive learning among policymakers and stakeholders is also essential to advancing adaptable, effective strategies. Research plays a pivotal role by evaluating trade-offs, examining alternative solutions, and providing stakeholders with data-driven insights to inform impactfull decision-making in long-term care.
