Founded in 2014, Like A Dog is an animal welfare community based out of Kolkata, India that works towards the betterment of community animals in and around the city.
What sets Like A Dog apart from other not-for-profit communities in the area is its vision to work towards a long-term social impact. That is why we have focused on four primary objectives:
1. Anti-rabies vaccination drives: Working to make Kolkata rabies-free is one of our primary objectives and over 4,000 rabies vaccines have been administered in & around Kolkata in an organised manner.
2. Sterilisation programmes: Planned and organised spaying & neutering of street dogs is the only humane way to control the overbearing street animal population & we work towards sterilising the right proportion of street animals from different areas.
3. Educational & outreach programmes: Educating the community that interacts with the community animals most is a very important aspect of animal welfare. We, therefore, try and conduct outreach programmes to educate the locals on animal behaviour, diseases and ways to co-exist with them.
4. Data Organisation, Management & Analysis: We understand that the problem with over population of community animals is a problem and are working with technology to try and address this problem in a more impactful way.
