YEA Camp - Youth Empowered Action Camp

Youth Empowered Action (YEA) Camp is a summer camp for social change. Since 2009, YEA Camp has been training teens to make a bigger difference on the social justice causes they care about. In 2018, YEA Camp launched its first ever session of YEA Camp for Adults. In 2020, responding to the Covid pandemic, YEA Camp launched its online Changemakers Challenge program and then Virtual YEA Camp, starting back up again in person in 2022. YEA Camp runs life-changing week-long overnight camps for aspiring activists who know they want to make a bigger difference in the world. Each camper chooses what YEA Camp calls their IOI, or Issue of Importance, that they want to focus on. Our camp curriculum builds campers' knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to empower them to make a bigger impact when they go home. By the end of the week, campers create an action plan to make a bigger difference on the cause of their choice when they go home. Since 2009, YEA Camp has trained about 2,000 up-and-coming changemakers and many of them have described their experience at YEA Camp as one of the best of their lives, going on to credit YEA Camp for their inspiring post-camp activist accomplishments. Campers have gone on to launch successful fundraisers for nonprofits they support, testify at political hearings, start school clubs, change school policies and practices -- like improving the school's recycling, getting rid of styrofoam trays, getting vegetarian options in the cafeteria, and so much more.
