Lietuvos advokatūra

Lithuanian lawyers are an independent part of the Lithuanian legal system. The General Meeting of Advocates is the supreme self-governance body of the Lithuanian Bar Association. Each advocate has a duty and responsibility to take part in the General Meeting of Advocates. The Council of Lithuanian Bar Association is the self-governing body of the Lithuanian Bar Association, which supervises, coordinates and controls the activities of advocates and assistant advocates and seeks to represent their interests. Today, the Council of Lithuanian Bar Association consists of 11 members: the President of the Lithuanian Bar Association and other members who are practicing lawyers with at least ten years of experience as advocates. The Council of Lithuanian Bar Association is elected for four years at the General Meeting of Advocates.
