Maher" (in the Marathi language) means "Mother's Home": a heaven of hope, belonging and understanding. Our mission is to help destitute women, children and men from all over India exercise their right to a higher quality of life, irrespective of gender, caste, creed, or religion.
Today, Maher is a UN-registered NGO, that served over 5000 women, 5900 children, and 300 men and has footprints in various states like Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Sr. Lucy had been awarded the “Nari Shakti Puraskar” at the hands of the then President of India - Shri Pranab Mukherjee, for her outstanding contribution to women's empowerment.
