Curated by high schoolers Aneesha Aryan and Laavanya Rasiah for MIT Club of Boston's Youthful Voices program, this series draws inspiration from a pivotal scene in the 2023 Barbie movie, where Barbie storms into the boardroom at Mattel and finds herself facing a room full of men trying to control her, insisting that she return to a box. Barbie feels a powerful urge to resist—and she does. The Barbie movie was intended as a landmark in depicting women’s progress to date, highlighting both the misconceptions surrounding gender equality and the persistent struggles women face, including societal limitations, glass ceilings, and barriers.
