Marine@UGent stands as a dynamic community of over 800 researchers distributed across 70 research groups spanning 10 faculties at Ghent University. Established in 2012, this consortium serves as the nexus for Ghent University's marine and maritime research expertise, fostering interfaculty collaboration and transdisciplinary initiatives. Annually, the consortium contributes to approximately one-third of all marine and maritime publications within the Belgian research landscape. At Marine@UGent, we rethink how oceans and humans can interact sustainably. Our team is dedicated to pioneering research-driven innovative solutions that address present concerns and proactively tackle the challenges of tomorrow. Our vision is rooted in a commitment to global impact, research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, industry and societal contributions as well as collaborative synergy. This vision encapsulates the core of Marine@UGent's mission, illustrating our ambitions to address paramount challenges in marine and maritime research globally, solidifying our position as a trailblazer in the field. As a Ghent University global initiative, Marine@UGent operates from its headquarters at Ostend Science Park and extends its influence with a branch institute in South Korea, housed at the Ghent University Global Campus.
