Material Challenge Lab started autumn 2017 and is all about material driven design: including sourcing, developing, marketing and implementing materials and manufacturing techniques. Material Challenge Lab was created as a direct response to the need of implementing design knowledge and design thinking within the manufacturing industries, the academic communities and research institutions in the development, implementation and market introduction of next generations of smart and sustainable materials. Material Challenge Lab is based on unique experience, knowledge and global networks from extensive and long term (19 yrs) of working with sourcing and implementing advanced, innovative and sustainable materials for global Brand owners, OEMs, Design Departments, Product Development teams and Architecture Firms stretching over a number of different markets. As well as working close the manufactoring industry and research communities, organizations and public funding programs (regional, national and EU-level). Material Challenge Lab strive towards finding solutions that enforce, correspond and are implementable in a future circular economy in accordance with UN Global Goals for sustainability. Solutions that are based on smart uses and combinations of advanced technologies, natural (grown) materials or waste streams, IoT and industry 4.0.
