Algae Co. is a new player on the global microalgae technology scene, bringing together game-changing algae science and bio-remediation capabilities to deliver nature-based solutions for environmental challenges and high value products to international markets.
Algae Co. was founded by four leading algae, bio-tech, and environmental systems’ experts – Professor Richard Bush, Dr Swaminathan Detchanamurthy, A/Prof Thava Palanisami and Dr Michael Askew – with the goal of creating innovative solutions for industry to their most challenging environmental legacies.
Our company partners have developed and implemented bio-remediation projects for major industries and now bring this expertise together under Algae Co. to transform environmental challenges into environmental opportunities.
Algae Co.'s key technologies are:
• PMAC (Premium Microalgae Cultivation): Our PMAC Systems cultivate microalgae in pure and nutrient-rich saltwater for the production of high-value algal oils and biomass and for carbon sequestration.
• SWIM (Saline Water Impact Management): Our SWIM Systems use specially-evolved halophilic microalgae to utilise brine water, strip salts, heavy metals and nutrients, and produce high-value algal oils.
• AMWR (Acid Mine Water Remediation): Our AMWR Systems utilise acidophilic cyanobacteria in bioreactors to transform acidic water, remove heavy metals and nutrients, and sequester carbon.
